On “All Under the Moon” and Ruby Moreno
I wanted to write a review of Yoichi Sai’s “All Under the
Moon,” but I changed my mind.
Instead, I had decided to put off writing about it until I
watch the film for the second time round next week in CCP.
And, in addition, somebody from Japan Foundation (organizer
of the Eiga Sai Fest) had tipped me off to see Mark’s Mountain, from the same
director who made “All Under the Moon.” Originally we were supposed to view
this film last Saturday in Shangrila but because it had been rated double X,
the mall had it pullout and “All Under the Moon” was placed as substitute. In
general I hate last minute changes in schedules during film festivals but in
this case, I’d make an exception. Not that “All Under the Moon” had gotten me
completely balled over but it sure did pique my interest over Yoichi Sai and
Ruby Moreno. The latter, if you don’t know yet, is actually a Filipina actress
who had starred in a few Japanese films during the 90’s. She had garnered a
number of awards for her performance in Sai’s film, and I must say, she
certainly deserved all that. I would love to see her other films especially
Segurista where, according to film critic Noel Vera, she delivered a great
performance.
So, how about it? Who is game for September 29 and 30 at CCP?
Shucks, sana wala akong urgent work on Sept 29 para makapag leave ako…
